    Hello, I'm Alex.

I provide therapy for individuals, couples, and families in San Luis Obispo and online throughout California. My approach is warm, collaborative, and direct. I take the time to understand your whole life, not just the problem that brought you in: your relationships, your family, your history, and the patterns keeping you stuck.

That understanding shapes everything that follows. Your treatment plan is built around you specifically, you have a say in the direction of your care, and when it's helpful, I coordinate with the other professionals involved in your care, like your physician or psychiatrist. My goal is for you to feel that every part of your life has been considered, and that the care you receive actually fits you.

Does Any of This Sound Familiar?

These struggles rarely show up in just one part of life. They follow you into your relationships, your work, and your family. You do not have to keep carrying them alone.

Anxiety is making it hard to relax, focus, or sleep

You and your partner keep having the same argument

A past experience still affects your relationships, emotions, or daily life

You feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected

Family relationships feel strained or distant

You are navigating a major life transition

If any of this sounds familiar, you do not have to figure it out alone. We will figure out what is actually going on and build a plan that fits your life.

What to Expect at Bishop Peak Counseling

Four things set the care here apart.

An intake that goes deep, not fast

Most first sessions barely scratch the surface. Ours does not. Before we talk about a treatment plan, we take the time to understand what is really going on: your history, your relationships, and the people and systems around you.

Treatment built around you, not a template

Your plan is shaped by what we learn about you specifically: your goals, your circumstances, what has worked before and what has not. Therapy here is collaborative. You have a say in the direction of your own care, session to session.

Seen as a whole person, not a set of symptoms

You are a partner, a parent, a sibling, a member of a community. Those relationships shape how you feel and how you heal, and we work with that fuller context in mind.

Coordinated care with your other providers

When your care calls for more than therapy alone, you will not manage it by yourself. With your permission, I communicate directly with your physician, psychiatrist, or other specialists, so your treatment is connected instead of siloed.

This is what it means to get care that actually fits you.
